Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to UNESCO stated that on Thursday the seventh session of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
According to Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, new members of the Bureau of the Committee, President of the Committee, three vice-presidents and rapporteurs were elected at the session.
Belgium was elected as President of the Committee, while vice-presidents – Azerbaijan, Croatia and El Salvador.
The source notes that Azerbaijan’s election as Vice President of this important committee is the result of the country’s efforts in the protection of cultural property during armed conflicts, as well as in the occupied territories.
