US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified in an interview with NBC News that President Trump did not ask China for any help on Iran during the summit in Beijing.
“We did not ask them for anything, and we do not need their help,” Rubio emphasized.
At the same time, the Secretary of State confirmed that Washington and Beijing are in agreement on the Strait of Hormuz: both oppose the militarization of the waterway and the imposition of “tolls” by Iran on ships.
Rubio noted that the United States will never tolerate the laying of mines in international waters or the Iranian toll system, and emphasized the fact that there is a common understanding between the two superpowers on this issue.
