Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the European Union is drawing Armenia into its orbit, and Yerevan risks losing all its privileges within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
“We have relations with Armenia, these relations are close, allied, but at the same time complex, taking into account how the West is trying to pull Armenia into its side again after some other CIS members, and also to break Armenia’s mutually beneficial economic, trade, and investment ties with its partners in the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a press conference after participating in the BRICS ministerial meeting in New Delhi.
The EAEU summit to be held in May will provide an opportunity to discuss the West’s attempts to draw Armenia into its orbit, he added, expressing regret that Pashinyan will not participate in the summit.
