Official sources report that Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili visited the National Defense Academy named after David the Builder and met with students.
Prime Minister congratulated them on the occasion of Nikolozoba (Orthodox holiday, Memorial Day of St. Nicholas) and informed about the reforms planned by government in the field of defense and security. He emphasized the importance of military education and noted the priorities in this area.
According to Ivanishvili, a country must be protected by educated army.
“One of the priorities of the new government is education. It is symbolic that in the field of education I decided to visit your Academy first. To succeed, we must have an educated society. Our country, our people must be protected by an educated army,” said the Prime Minister.
Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania and Education Minister George Margvelashvili accompanied Bidzina Ivanishvili. They checked the infrastructure of the academy and got acquainted with the living conditions of the students.
According to Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania, one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defense today is to have an educated, intelligent and thoughtful army. He noted that the military will not be limited in professional development and will be able to get serious civic education.
