Today the director of the Center for Strategic Studies Farhad Mammadov said that a war between Azerbaijan and Armenia can begin at any time.
He emphasized that Azerbaijani officials noted that Armenia artificially delays negotiations and the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia are an excuse.
“Azerbaijan initiated the peace treaty. Azerbaijan is interested in the peace process and negotiations, but by no means has it taken the military option off of the table. This is Azerbaijan’s fair right, an attempt was made to change Azerbaijan’s borders by force. In this situation, every sovereign country has a right to its own defense.” he said.
According to him, Azerbaijan does not find excuses for delaying negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh, because the Azerbaijani people and authorities share common ground in the pursuit to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
