“We cannot make the parties to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it requires political will from both sides.” This was reported on December 7 at a press conference after a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council by the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.
Answering the question of reporters on the adoption of measures of trust and withdrawal of snipers from the contact line, the Secretary General noted that there are two aspects. “The first one is the existing political settlement process, in the framework of which the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk are constantly in contact with the parties. The second aspect is the situation on the territory. There were anxious moments, in connection with which we put forward a number of proposals, including such measures of trust, as an extension of power of the permanent representative, measures to withdraw snipers, etc. For whatever reason, the sides had difficulties for the adoption of these proposals”, – said L. Zannier.
Also the OSCE chairman Eamon Gilmore made a statement on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
According to the OSCE chairman, Foreign Minister and Minister of Trade of Ireland Eamon Gilmore, unfortunately, in recent years there have been clashes in the contact line of Nagorno Karabakh, which proves the importance of making progress on the settlement of the conflict. He called on the parties to cooperate with each other and with the OSCE Minsk Group to resolve the conflict.
