On December 4 the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Catherine Jane Lich.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the NA President noted that in recent years Armenian-British cooperation is developing and Armenia attaches importance to the partnership with the United Kingdom in bilateral and multilateral formats. Hovik Abrahamyan added that development of relations with EU member states is very important for Armenia and European integration is one of the first priorities for the RA foreign policy.
“We attach great importance to the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Great Britain in the belief that promoting parliamentary diplomacy is a lever for political dialogue between the countries and, as the NA president, I’m ready to make efforts in the promotion of Armenian- British parliamentary cooperation and support all initiatives that contribute to the strengthening of friendship between our two countries and peoples, “said Hovik Abrahamyan.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Lich also considered important the development and deepening of British-Armenian cooperation in various fields. Mrs. Lich stressed that Britain, as a member country of the EU, attaches great importance to the EU-Armenia cooperation and welcomes the RA’s efforts in this direction.
During the meeting the parties discussed the regional issues, touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Safarov’s case and other issues of mutual interest.
