Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mehmet Saglam told journalists in Baku that the Turkish parliament will, at the right time, make a decision related to the recognition of Khojaly genocide.
He noted that there were no clashes of opinion on this issue between the opposition and the authorities in the Parliament, as the Turkish Parliament always makes decisions, considering Azerbaijan’s interests.
“Of course, foreign policy is conducted by the Foreign Ministry and the government. Up till now, they have always maintained Azerbaijan’s interests in the Parliament and we support them.” he said
According to the information, Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on February 26, 1992: 613 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. Totally 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
