The USAID funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness
(EDMC) Project, the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), the State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre, and X-Tech announced at the press conference today the accomplishments of the Armenian delegation at the recent Georgian IT Innovation (GITI) conference in Tbilisi, Georgia. On November 14-17 during the GITI regional event in Georgia Armenian team won 7 prizes. As the head if the IT enterprises union Vahan Hovsepyan declared, this was an unprecedented number of awards. He stated 5 out of 6 awards aimed for business sector was granted to the Armenians.
Hovsepyan mentioned the Armenian side surprises with its growth in different sectors and this year it was the registry solutions sector that won in two categories.
As the head of the USAID enterprise development and market competitiveness program Gayane Dallaqyan mentioned, the aim was to foster innovative approaches implemented into businesses since every business starts with a new idea. She highly estimated such accomplishments and said they will be a good motivation for further acquirements.
Since its launch in 2008, the GITI conference aims to promote networking and partnership between IT companies, associations, and government representatives from Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic states, the Caucasus and Central Asia to foster competitiveness and innovation. The conference is
organized by the Georgian ICT Business Council and the LEPL Data Exchange Agency of the Georgian Ministry of Justice.
