Today the employees of “Nairit” company have protested in front of the Presidential residence to bring the issue of “Nairit” survival and the salary of the employees.
Liparit Mamikonyan, one of the employees of the plant, told the Armenian First News and Analyses that 3 years ago they came to the president and the chief of staff of the time, Karen Karapetyan had told them the plant will by all means go on functioning, however it has been 3 years the situation has not changed and the plant does not work. Mamikonyan wondered why the president does not keep his word if he gave one. He added they have not acquired a 11-months’ salary and taking into account that there are 2500-3000 workers there and most part of them are families working only in “Nairit”, the situation is understandable.
The demand of the strikers is to have the salary from the previous 6months at least before December. The president’s office assured that they will have part of their salaries within this week, the rest – within the next week. However the promises have cast doubt for their probable realization and the employees demand a 6 months’ salary in December.
