Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili does not consider the Public broadcaster a true one and finds that his wife’s “9th TV channel” will become public TV broadcaster.
“If in the near future the first channel becomes truly public broadcaster, and it should become, in this case, I think I’ll give all the property of the “9th Channel” to the “First Channel”, and would be better if the team of the journalists move there. If it does not succeed, I do not rule out that a truly public broadcaster will be created based on the “9th Channel”. I do not want to close any channel and leave without journalists. But if it is necessary to remake the “9th Channel” to the public broadcaster, we will do it transparently. I will pay for the next 20 years so that the board did not think about finances.” said Ivanishvili.
