“Izvestiya” reports the international sanctions on Iran hit not only Ahmadinejad regime but affect the economy of Armenia too. As an example the sheep export from Armenia to Iran has reduced as a result of the depreciation of Iranian rival. This has caused in its turn the twice reduce of the lamb price in the home market.
Ezdies are engaged in animal breeding in Armenian region of Ararat and they complain that they have a loss of $50.000 annually. According to them, last year the Iranians were ready to pay $150 per sheep but now they cannot sell the meat by $75 in the local market.
Another shortcoming of the Iranian embargo on the Armenia is the production of fertilizers. It has been a year Tehran has ceased to produce polymeric materials which make the part of the fertilizers Armenia produces. The situation is so difficult that the community of the producers has turned to Tigran Sargsyan to settle the issue.
As the MFA informs the negotiations to restart the polymeric materials’ supply to Armenia are already in process. Recently Vartan Oskanian had announced that the issue must be solved solely by diplomatic means as the opposite will mean the closing down of the third border of Armenia. Armenia seeks ways out from the economic hardships the sanctions on Iran have caused.
