The registration of websites for “ArmNet Awards 2012” already completed and there are 540 participants in it.
Websites that meet the following criteria of the competition are eligible to participate in the awards:
a. Websites that were created during the years 2010-2012, or have undergone noticeable changes (in design, content, technology used)
b. Websites that meet one of the following criteria:
Websites that are developed for the Armenian (Armenia or Diaspora) market, or
Websites that present the culture, the history of Armenia, Armenians and Armenian Diaspora, or Websites that are entirely developed by a company registered in Armenia.
All those websites that correspond to the criteria “a” and either one of the 3 criteria in point “b” can be submitted to the competition.
The Awards will be conducted in two stages. The jury panel will review all the registered websites.1 week before the end of the competition, on November 30th, the jury will chose nominees for each category. During the second stage the jury will choose the winner in each category and the winner of the grand prize.
In parallel with the jury selection, visitors will vote for their favorite websites via SMS. In order to vote for their favorite website users will need to send SMS from their cell phones to 10-41 short number (the price for 1 SMS is 50 dram including VAT) indicating the unique website number in the subject line of the SMS. Visitors from abroad can also vote for their favorite websites. The full list of available countries, the specific short number for each country and the price for short SMS can be found in ArmNet Awards 2012 official page. Each visitor is allowed to vote once for each website, but the visitor can vote for as many websites as he/she wants. The website that receives the most number of votes will be announced as a winner in the “People’s Choice” category. The SMS voting will start on November 22, 2012 at 00:00:00 Yerevan Time and will finish on December 8, 2012 at 18:00:00 Yerevan Time. SMS voting results can be followed on www.armnetawards.am, near each nominee website. The data will be updated every 5 minutes.
The competition will be held in the following nomination categories:
Design and Usability – will be awarded to the website with the best design and the best usability
Innovation – will be awarded to the website, which was the first to implement a considerable technological innovation during the last 2 years
Technological Development – will be awarded to the website, which has implemented technological solutions in the best way
Content – will be awarded to the website, which has an original, interesting and literate content. For this nomination category, special priority will be given to the websites that have a version of their content in literate Armenian.
Breakthrough of the Year – will be chosen by the judges, and awarded to the website which has most achievements and technological breakthrough during the last year.
Social impact – will be awarded to the website, blog or person who has had a big social impact due to his/her activity in social platforms.
Grand Prix – will be awarded to the website, which has the biggest number of points in all categories
People’s Choice – the website which gains the biggest number of points from the social vote in Phase 1. Special Prize from Orange – the award is provided by Orange for the best mobile application.
