RSE director Richard Giragosian highlights three main aspects of the US presidential elections: 1) The elections were competitive and there was a hope towards the political changes. Giragosian states the case will not be the same with Armenia, where there is no hope for political changes and the major change will be the way electoral processes will take place. 2) Strategic vision of the US which was presented throughout the presidential campaign of both candidates who made their way and future activities clear. Giragosian mentioned here again the situation in Armenia is different because the competition is not between the strategies the opponents present but among the individuals. 3) American institutional democracy since it is the institutions that play the main role in politics not the individuals.
Speaking about the latest developments on the parliamentary governing shift to 100% proportional, Giragosian mentioned it is interesting but very dangerous for Armenia because the incumbent government and the parliament we have today are capable of governing optimally.
The political expert concluded stating that it is the individuals who define the upcoming political life of Armenia and these people are the 3 presidents. In order to achieve a stable and feasible economic state the institutions must work properly and there should be a strategic vision.
