Today, public hearings were held on the issue of introducing inclusive education, for which comprehensive reforms should be implemented. Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said. “No child should adapt himself to us, but we need to get adapted to the child. We are ready to listen to your suggestions.”
The minister also warned that not everything will be easy after the adoption of the bill, mainly noted the condition of pupils with complex psychological conditions.
Defenders of the interests of people with disabilities expressed their concerns to the Minister. Mher Vasilyann said that there is no literature for Braille system or audio system in the YSU, and it is not possible to receive an efficient education.
Armen Ashotyan answered that it is not possible to give solutions to all problems. “I know that there are no textbooks, but I know one thing too that preparing textbooks in Braille system is terribly expensive. It is obvious that we cannot provide such large-scale resources. There are different forms of higher education. There is also a remote system that is psychologically difficult to accept. In fact, the remote system creates difficulties for the young people, because they do not require physical presence.”
