Today in the session adherent to the Minister of Local Self-Government (LSG) the package of “the strategic approaches to the LSG system development and decentralization in the RA” was presented. The initiative was supported by the “Counterpart International” program called “support to the civic society and local self-government”. The head of the Armenian branch of “Counterpart International” Aleks Sardari states the initiative is aimed at the development and decentralization of the local self-government along with a number of other strategic projects.
As the First Armenian News and Analyses reports 4 main categories were distinguished while elaborating the plan: administrative-territorial division and community cooperation, government financial decentralization, local democracy, local self-government system development. The head of the session the deputy PM of the RA Armen Gevorgyan highly appreciated the initiative and expressed his content on the quality of the work. Gevorgyan mentioned the need for the public discussion of the package and its implementation into the NA hearings. The second part of the session was dedicated to the results of the Armenian-Russian inter-regional summit (October 12-13).
