In the interview with First News and Analyses the “Liberal democrats” member Aleksadr Arzumanyan talked about the coming discussions on the proportionate electoral system and the rumors that he might be replaced by Tachat Vardapetyan in his post of the deputy to the foreign affairs commission.
Arzumanyan particularly mentioned the issue of his replacement is very clearly stated in the regulations of the NA code book and that he will be moving according to these laws. He stated that in a parliament where the majority is the incumbent governing party it is impossible to fully satisfy the demands of others. Their problem in the NA is to speak out of the decisions they disagree with and let the public know about it.
When asked whether he thought Tachat Vardapetyan could work in his position, Arzumanyan stated that was not his business and that everyone should mind their own business. The MP soke about the necessity of the government system shift to the parliamentary one and said it is a long procedure and needs fundamental amendments in the constitution and a number of laws to be feasible. Concerning the issue of presenting a joint candidate for the presidential elections, Arzumanyan said it would be clearer if the PAP defined finally whether they are an opposition or not because what they call themselves (PAP is an alternative) is no political category.
Unless they straightly define their views, it will be possible to say something. Arzumanyan also clarifies they still have no concrete decision on being presented in the presidential elections. The MP concluded his interview by stating he does not know why the PAP has got more active recently, but he is sure everything will come out to surface and that it is not only the PAP that is active on the eve of the presidential elections, a number of “exotic” candidates have put their candidacy and time will show what all this meant.
