On November 14, the PAP secretary Naira Zohrabyan, faction members ElinaVardanian, VahanKarapetyan and VaheEnfiajyan met with Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Armenia GintsApals.
Welcoming the guest, Zohrabyan presented the future plans of the party, works in the direction of European integration, noting that European integration is one of the most important points for “Prosperous Armenia” party.
The RA NA Department of Public and Media Relations informed “First News and Analyses” that the parties discussed the negotiations on the RA-EU Association Agreement, as well as issues concerning the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area agreement.
Speaking of the relations between Latvia and Armenia, and the arrival of the Latvian Foreign Minister EdgarsRinkevich to Armenia, Naira Zohrabyan expressed regret over the recent statements made by the Latvian Foreign Minister.Namely his separation of Georgia and Moldova as countries that have serious progress in European integration and democracy, and that he tried to put unnecessary sign of equality between Armenia and Azerbaijan.Mrs. Zohrabyan expressed hope that the Latvian Foreign Minister will reconsider his position.
She also referred to the news of Azerbaijani media thatRinkevich stated in Baku that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved exclusively preserving the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.Mrs. Zohrabyan expressed regret that the Latvian Foreign Ministry didn’t official denied or gave clarification to that press statement.
Latvian Ambassador GintsApals thanked for frank conversation and expressed hope that all the problems that arise in connection with this or that statement will be clarified during the visit of the Foreign Minister.
