We should recall that the delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uruguay Jorge Orrico, is on a visit to NKR and they met with the president of NKR Bako Sahakyan.
Moreover, a member of the delegation and Uruguay-Armenia Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Rubén Martínez, said that his country could be the first to recognize the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Azerbaijani APA News Agency reports that Azerbaijan is going to send a protest note to Uruguay concerning this event.
Spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told journalists about this and added:
“The visit of one or two parliamentarians to the “occupied Azerbaijani territories” does not change anything. “These are historical lands of Azerbaijan. The negotiations on the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are on the delicate moment and Armenia damages this process with such actions. Said Abdullayev.
