Azerbaijani sources report that today President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Cornelia Pieper, Minister of State at the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Cornelia Pieper brought German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle `s greetings to the Head of State.
Ms. Pieper said that Germany always supports Azerbaijan after the country regained its independence and noted that this was her first visit to Azerbaijan.
According to the source she highly appreciated the opening of Foreign Trade Chamber in the region for the first time in Azerbaijan. The Head of State noted that the establishment of the German-Azerbaijan Foreign Trade Chamber was a good basis for the cooperation between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of the Trade Chamber from the point of view of joint activity of Azerbaijani and German businessmen and implementation of projects.
The parties also exchanged views on expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of industry, energy, investment, education, tourism and others.
