State Protection Special Service is passing into submission of the government of Georgia. According to the bill, initiated in the Parliament, the service will not submit to the president. The initiator of the bill is deputy Rone Imerlishvili, and the author – the committee on defense and security.
After the adoption of the changes in the law on “State Protection Special Service,” to determine the status of the service, to regulate issues related to its operation, the right to appoint and remove officers will be transferred to the Government of Georgia.
Consideration of the bill will begin in the parliamentary committee next week. Member of the parliamentary minority Mikhail Machavariani called the initiative a political decision, but noted that the minority will actively participate in the committee hearings.
