Today head of the Eastern studies institute Ruben Safrastyan stated the US will change its politics in the region. Taking into consideration that the US does not have a new president but a re-elected one, it is fraudulent to think that the strategy will remain the same.Safrastyan highlighted Turkey’s role in the region as the first country to be officially visited by the US president after his re-election. This step will be used by Turkey to increase pressing leverages on Armenia onNagornoKarabakh conflict resolution. The head of the institute referred to Syria mentioning that Assad’s regime showed it is more powerful than the opposition sine the latter did not manage to accomplish its deadline of government change within the time frame it would like to. The reason is public stands more on the Assad’s side rather than supports the opposition and the US has a lot to do in reformulating the opposition powers so as to have a more efficient one in the end.Safrastyan concluded Turkey’s military activities have lost their primary significance although it is not excluded the Turkish troops may intrude into the border regions with Syria. This, however, has more to do with the Kurds living in these areas rather than Assad regime.
