On November 8 RA Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of Armenian-Iraqi delegation on economic cooperation Armen Gevorgyan met President of Iraqi Kurdistan Masoud Barzani in Erbil.
The public relations department of the MTA informed “First News and Analyses” that the President of Kurdistan welcomed the visit of Armenian delegation to Erbil, saying that such visits will be an impetus for the development of friendly relations between the nations. He stressed that Iraqi Kurdistan is interested in cooperation with Armenia, as well as the presence of Armenian business in Kurdistan. Masoud Barzani said that the aged friendship between the Armenian and Kurdish peoples, as well as the presence of the Kurdish and Armenian community in Kurdistan is a good basis for it.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing the readiness for development of relations. Armen Gevorgyan expressed confidence that the cooperation with Kurdistan may have an important role in Armenian- Iraqi relations.
The parties discussed the possibilities and prospects of development of trade and economic cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister thanked Masoud Barzani for a friendly attitude towards Armenian community. The sides also touched upon regional issues.
