As Turkish Zaman reports, the Turkish military carried out a ground operation against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization in northern Iraq on Tuesday night.
Turkish Maroon Beret soldiers crossed the border and went five kilometers into northern Iraqi soil to carry out an operation against PKK terrorists on Tuesday night and returned to Turkey after completing the operation.
While the soldiers were carrying out the ground operation, six F-16 warplanes bombarded PKK targets on Kandil Mountain in northern Iraq. No official statements have been released by the General Staff about the ground operation and air strike as of yet.
Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Özel is currently in southeast Anatolia, according to a written statement released by the General Staff on Wednesday. The General Staff stated that Gen. Özel inspected air force commands in Diyarbakır and Malatya.
