The leader of the “Modus Vivendi” center Ara Papian today told the journalists that in case Azerbaijan wants to solve Karabakh issue with war, it has to try it in 2013-2014.
According to the speaker, Armenian-Turkey relations are beyond the bilateral ones and the whole region is concerned about it. Both superpowers Russia and the US have their role in the process and after Obama has been re-elected, the protocol issue will be raised close to 2015. Papian stated he is for the development of the relations between the two states, only Armenia will lose more than gain in case the protocols are verified.
Ara Papian also spoke of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations which will be tense in 2013-2014 according to his observations. He explained this view by the constant and gradual reduction of Azerbaijani oil export and if the latter aims to solve the problem by means of war, it has to initiate it in 2013-2014 so that its military arsenal could sustain it. This would be very inconvenient for Azerbaijan, as Papoan goes on, because this step will be look at as a genocide attempt or a war on ethnic cleansing.
Papian concluded his speech by saying Armenia should make ties with nations in the region that are deprived of state status, such as the talish, the curds, the the avars which are in a miserable condition within Azerbaijan. These nations have come to the conclusion it is out of their interests to fight against Armenia and stabilizing ties with these nations would work for Armenia.
Papian’s last point was on situation in Syria to which he stated Asad’s administration cannot handle the opposition militants because the latters are being financed and equipped from outside.
