Azerbaijani media reports that country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Abid Sharifov, at the opening ceremony of VII Global Internet Governance Forum, announced that information technology is a priority area in Azerbaijan, which is the focus of the president of the country.
The introduction of information and communication technology (ICT) is actively developing in Azerbaijan in the system of governance and provision of online services to the public,” said Sharifov, adding “Azerbaijan sticks to the policy of a free and effective use of ICT and advanced technologies for the development of society and the state”.
According Sharifov, under scrutiny are issues such as ensuring freedom and access to the Internet, both within the country and abroad, the guarantee of human rights and the rule of law.
