As Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan announced today in the NA permanent commission’s session, the state budget allocations are not enough. As he states, he asked for 14.4 million drams out of which 11.8 was not even provided.
He justified the need of the money by the urgency to support doctors, sociologists, civic workers and business trips. There was an unexpected discussion in the NA on this matter because Andreasyan could not define the concrete number the state budget financed the ombudsman. This is one of the shortcomings the state budget plan has. The ombudsman also stated that the helpline and 6 offices in marzes were under the auspices of volunteers and EU grants. This financing however stops in 2014 and volunteers cannot work solely based on their enthusiasm.
