Aram Sargsyan, in his interview to “168.am” commented on the early statement of his on leaving the Armenian National Congress (ANC) due impossibility to accept the PAP (prosperous Armenia Party)-ANC cooperation. Clarifying this Sargsyan told: “I have expressed my approach to this matter by putting down the mandate. PAP is not an opposition. They even consider themselves an alternative. PAP is an alternative for everyone, not only for the authorities, but for the ANC, for me and you. I think PAP members understand who they are. I also believe PAP understands that having money is not a sufficient reason to score in the elections, because only Republican Party has the right to distribute money. In case Republican Party does not want to, no matter how much charitable money Hatsman allocates, they can watch over the issue and do not let you distribute tractors. They can also sue for such issues. People like me, who are for the real, fair elections, do not want to see a counterbalance to the government. They want a fair electoral system. Who needs a counterbalance? Let there be fair elections, let a new government be formed that will have the vote of the people, hence the opposition will automatically shape the counterpoint which will struggle to achieve the power. If you lay a priority to be a counterbalance to the ruling authority and not to be a ruling authority, you have calculated why you do not say Serzh Sargsyan should be depowered. You are afraid to say it because you have estimated your powers which are insufficient to declare so. I am sure, if there are masses in the street before or after the electoral processes, it is possible for the PAP to come and the people accept it in this field. But if there are no masses, I exclude such developments. ”
