The president of the “New Times” party, Aram Karapetyan in his interview with Aravot.am talked about the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia. He expressed doubt about Serzh Sargsyan being the only presidential candidate, noting that people will run for presidency if they are sure that at least something can be changed through the elections. But there is one thing that is apparent; “If the government doesn’t fail, elections will change nothing in Armenia.”
Mr. Karapetyan noted that presidential elections can have two results; either there will be a national destruction or there will be a social struggle.”As a professional I can say that when people are disappointed they are ready for a struggle. Protests are the expression of people’s disappointment. These things happen in every country. And the same thing happened in Armenia concerning Vahe Avetyan’s case. Different groups of people were in the streets. And even though not very large masses were there protesting, but one day it may happen.”
