Paruyr Hayrikyan, leader and founder of the Union for National Self-Determination (UNSD) political party, today had an interview with “168 zham” daily, concerning Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
According to him if, for example, the biggest state of Australia recognizes the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh it won’t give any solution to the problem.
“I want to stress that I’ll be very glad to hear that a small city or state has recognized NKR independence, but the thing is that the whole country must do it in order to have an impact on other countries. When Armenia was trying to be a member of UN, Artsakh should have been recognized by Armenia, but we didn’t do it” said Hayrikyan adding “We shouldn’t disturb NKR decisions. They are to decide what they should do. By doing such actions we don’t let them protect their rights. Yes, I do stress that we must support them but they should negotiate with Azerbaijan. According to me, Armenia must leave it to NKR. To tell the truth I think that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict won’t be resolved until the two countries establish democracy. ”
