Georgian media reports that the Georgian future government promises to limit the ‘unlimited powers’ of the prosecutor’s office and to strengthen the legal institution.
As reported, the statement came from Bidzina Ivanishvilli while representing a government program called ‘For a strong, democratic, united Georgia’.
Ivanishvili who must take the post of Prime Minister said the prosecutor’s office will remain under the Justice Ministry, but it will be formed as an independent law enforcement body headed by the Prosecutor General. The President will appoint the Prosecutor General for at least a five-year term with Parliament’s consent.
