Georgian media reports that the government of the Georgian Dream coalition headed by candidate for Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili plans to implement large scale reforms in all strategic directions.
As reported, While representing a government program called “For a strong, democratic, united Georgia”, Bidzina Ivanishvili made the following statement at the Georgian Parliament on Thursday, October 25.
“There is a procedure of presenting the government program at the Georgian Parliament and approving its composition. According to the program most of the political groups of the new ruling coalition prefer parliament managing within the planned constitutional reform. However a final decision on the constitutional arrangement will be made on the basis of a broad civil consent. According to the constitution there will be such a governing model which on the one hand will ensure the stability of the government and on the other will provide the political opposition with real levers for a competent and timely control over the government’s activity” said Ivanishvilli adding “the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo), mayors and heads of local administrations will be elected.”
The new government intends to ensure that local bodies with representative bodies are elected by direct elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili said at the Georgian Parliament, while representing a government program called ‘For strong, democratic, united Georgia’.
