Today reporters asked Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan how he would apply if the building of Finance Ministry was sold.
Recall that the head of the state property management department Arman Sahakyan at the press conference on sale of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “I will give a simple answer. If, for example, there is a good offer to the Ministry of Transport, which will be out of the state interests, it will be discussed.”
According to Vache Gabrielyan, “Arman Sahakyan is leading a correct policy.” The reporters asked to clarify whether they got it clearly that every building can be sold when a proper amount of money is offered, the Minister said, “No, not every building, if it is not of a cultural value. If it is not in the list, the rest can be done and it is part of the issue, for which state property management department is responsible. The building of the Ministry of Finance, if I’m not mistaken, is of cultural and historical value, as well as the gallery building. In my opinion, the building of the Ministry of Transport is not of historical value. So, if it is beneficial for the state, and if it carries out a plan, which would not be implemented in other way, then it should be done.”
He also commented on the fact that the building will be transformed into a hotel or other business centre, “I am not in favor of the changes and I do not think that anyone can reshape it. The overall architectural appearance should not be changed.”
