On October 23, the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Ambassador Andrei Sorokin is in Syunik with a two-day working visit. He began the first day of his visit in Goris. At a meeting with Syunik Minister Surik Khachatryan they discussed of the socio-economic and political situations in Armenia and Syunik region.
Ambassador handed to the Minister the new stamps granted and put into circulation by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to the Republic of Armenia on the 20th anniversary and the first published travel guide of Syunik region.
On October 24, Mr. Sorokin was in Kapan, where in “Aarhus” centre he met the TV/Cinema representatives and journalists, listened to the raised issues, questions and promised to support and make possible joint efforts to solve them.
The Ambassador highlighted the environmental problems for the region and said that visiting of Kapan he saw the sad image of the roads.
“Environmental issues are global, and we can discuss and try to find ways to sove these serious issues,” said the Ambassador.
“We aim to develop safe agriculture, in ecological sense, as now the presence of mines makes impossible to produce organic food. But it is possible to improve the soil, and other forms of natural improvement. In addition, today we have a serious health-related problems.” Added Mrs. Hakobyan.
The Ambassador also spoke about the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the hatred, which is basically noticeably propagated by the Azerbaijani side, as well as found unacceptable the latest developments with Safarov.
After the meeting Sorokin presented to Syunik Regional Psychiatric Dispensary medical equipment, provided by the OSCE.
