Georgian media reports that candidate for Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili , at a meeting with a parliamentary minority said that pensions will be increased to the subsistence level in the next few years.
According to him, the pension has to be no lower than the living wage, but this cannot be achieved at this stage.
“In such cases I refrain from giving any figures and dates. The statement of Irakli Alasania on adjustment of pensions to the living wage does not go beyond the scope of our program. In the near future we plan to achieve this, but the dates cannot yet be specified. We have never mentioned that pensions will be increased to a living wage immediately after we come to power” said Ivanishvili adding “he growth of pensions depends on flow of investments and creation of jobs which in turn will increase the budget”
