Aravot writes that Armenian MP Edmon Maruqyan, during the NA session stressed that there should be an increase in science funding.
According to him only 1 % (11,241.7 million AMD) of Armenian budget is put in that field.
“I require the increase in science funding. According to the law “Scientific and technical activities” Article 23 Part 2, Armenian budget must provide an amount not less than proportionally increasing allocations for expenditure of the budget revenue growth compared to the previous year, but, as you see, we don’t act according the law. Based on this law I urge all the MPs accept my suggestion and raise this important question in the sessions. In order to have a development in scientific field 1-3 percent of GDP must be provided to scientific budget, but instead, only 0.25 percent of GDP is put in that field which is not accepted and won’t let it develop”.
