PAP MP, former FM of RA Vartan Oskanian finds it unperceivable the indifference of our diplomacy towards the developments around Armenia, he wrote about this on his facebook page adding that the geography of FM’s visits contradicts what is going on around us.
“When the last preparations on Safarov’s extraditions were made, FM was in New Zealand. Lately when our region is full of hot events, he is in Africa, and now in Latin America.”
By Vartan Oskanian’s account those events are:
1. Safarov’s extradition and the disability of Armenian diplomacy to undertake anything in answer.
2. Turkey’s inclusion in Syrian events, which destructs their policy “zero problems with neighbor’s as its relations are bad with all neighbors. This could be taken advantage of by Armenia.
3. Russian-Turkish tense relations, as a result of which Putin’s visit to Russia was suspended.
4. Azerbaijani-Iranian tension escalation.
So what can be done in present situation.
1. Armenia must undertake real recognition of NKR sovereignty instead of public announcements.
2. On the background of Safarov’s case Azerbaijani military aspirations must be put forward, its violations on the contact line, the deadlock of negotiations. Armenia and Azerbaijan must sign a contract on recognizing Nagorno Karabakh as a sovereign political unit. This will be sign for Azerbaijan that Armenia has already started a process of recognizing NKR’s right of self-determination.
3. Explaining that 3 years have passed from signing Armenian-Turkish protocols and nothing is undertaken, Armenia must at least call them back from NA.
Oskanian writes that at least by these 3 steps Armenia would adequately react to the events in our region remaining in the constructive plane.
