“Can you say how many days a person can live with these 35 thousand drams, even with no children?” asked today the “Heritage” faction deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan at the session of the National Assembly, addressing Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan during the discussion of amendments on “Minimum Monthly Salary” law.
V. Gabrielyan proposed not to the point how many days they can live with minimum wage, but how much can be spent than earlier: 7-8%.
To the question of Postanjyan what a person can afford to buy with the increased amount Gabrielyan said that one can buy a “basket of goods with a number of products in any store.”
V. Gabrielyan agreed that 35 thousand AMD does not cover the estimated shopping, and it is a problem that the government has to settle over time. Minimum salary is planned to be 40-50 thousand drams in 2015. Introducing the former correlation of inflation, the minister announced that the inflation rate is 2.5%, whereas in 2013, the 12-month inflation rate will be 4±1.5%, which is fully consistent with the inflation of the legislature, and that “it cannot be described as scandalous inflation.”
