On October 22 in “Dzukkari” Hall of the Senate of the Italian Republic was hosted an event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Italy. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Italy, and it was attended by the two deputies representing Italian parliament’s two chambers, foreign ministry officials, public figures, as well as representatives of the Armenian community.
The event was opened by Vice President of the Senate Vanino Kitti, who read the statement of the Senate President Renato Skifani. Then V. Kitti touched upon the Armenian-Italian historical linkages, historical presence of Armenian community in Italy.
Vice President of the Senate praised the Armenian-Italian relations, which are at “qualitatively new level.”
The head of Armenian-Italian Friendship Parliamentary Group in Italy’s parliament Sandra Zampa stressed visit the Parliamentary Group to Armenia in October.
RA Ambassador to Italy Ruben Karapetyan spoke in his speech about the radical changes during the last three years in Armenian-Italian relations and spoke about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“We have together proved that our two nations share quite realistic sincere sympathy and friendship, which is transferred from the social level to the practical field,” said Ambassador Karapetyan.
After the solemn session the Italian Ambassador to the Republic of Italy gave special made souvenirs to 20 politicians, diplomats, government officials and journalists for the 20 anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.
