“Heritage” and “Free Democrats” party alliance was perhaps the shortest in history. It existed for a few months, although it was acknowledged that the alliance was one of the most promising ones in Armenia’s history and also unique one.
It is obvious that the alliance was destroyed by “Heritage” party. In other words, everything started the leader of the party Raffi Hovannisian, with his statements. “Heritage” party accuses “Free Democrats” for destroying the union, and the Democrats deny any breach of agreement.
But at least the two sides are not equally convincing for the public, therefore, the fact is that the destruction process was initiated by Raffi Hovannisian. He might take this step because of certain desperation, trying to draw attention to him, like did Herostrate, burning the temple of Artemisia to leave his name in the history.
Finally, we must not forget that when Raffi Hovannisian were to make remarkable statements in public, everyone’s attention got distracted on Oskanian and parliamentary debates, as a result of which Raffi Hovannisian had nothing to do than burn the union to attract attention. Of course, he succeeded, but one thing is clear, the block splitting is perhaps the last act of Raffi Hovannisian’s political biography.
Unfortunately, “Heritage” party leader failed to adequately use the enormous political potential that he had a couple of years ago. The only project that had prospects was alliance with “Free Democrats” and it could be a serious political project, but he destroyed this opportunity too.
