Georgian media reports that Former Georgian Defense Minister, Dmitri Shashkin, confirmed that he has left the country.
According to the information on Shashkin’s Facebook page, he made this decision in the hope that one day he will be able to return back and serve his people.
“I have always observed the law and was responsible for my duties. I have no regrets about any decisions made over the last four years and am ready to answer all questions put to me,” said Shashkin adding “I respect the choice of the Georgian people, but I and the new majority have completely different values”.
According to the ministry, prior to the parliamentary elections, Georgian Defence Minister Dmitri Shashkin, left for a working visit to the U.S.and did not return.
Note, Shashkin served as minister of corrections and education at various times and as defense minister to this day.
