Azerbaijani media reports that Georgian Defense Minister nominee, Irakli Alasania, made an announcement and said that “Nagorno-Karabakh problem must be solved within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity”.
As reported he also noted that Abkhazia and South Ossetia conflicts must be solved within the territorial integrity of Georgia.
Alasania said that the number one wish of Georgia and Azerbaijan is to “liberate” their territories from so called occupation and solve the problem within the territorial integrity.
To the question “How will Georgia react, if war starts between Azerbaijan and Armenia?” Alasania said: “I hope such a tragedy will not happen in the Caucasus. The political leaders of the two countries will not allow this. Both Baku and Yerevan understand it well. We have good relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia. I think all expedient measures will be taken by the two countries in order to avoid war. I am sure that the political process will improve better, I hope there will be no war.”
