On October 19, President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the FRG Rainer Morel.
Welcoming the Ambassador and wishing him success in his diplomatic mission, the NA President noted with gratification that bilateral relations are developing steadily in all directions. He praised the current political, economic and cultural cooperation. Hovik Abrahamyan noted with pleasure that the inter-parliamentary relationships are activated and strengthened.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador of Germany highlighted the further development and deepening of bilateral relations, the importance of activation of inter-parliamentary relations.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of “International Parliamentary Scholarship” program, which operates since 1998, and many Armenian young people were interns at the Bundestag. Hovik Abrahamyan noted in this context that together with the German Bundestag President Lammert they reached an agreement on the possibility of implementing a similar program in the National Assembly of Armenia.
“This is another step towards strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation,” said Hovik Abrahamyan.
During the meeting they discussed regional issues and other issues of mutual interest.
