On October 18 in Brussels RA representative in EU, Ambassador Avet Adonts and General Director of Internal Affairs of the European Commission Stefano Manservis pre-signed entry visa facilitation agreements between Armenia and the European Union. It is anticipated that these agreements will be signed in December of 2012 and will enter validation phase in the first half of 2013.
According to the agreement, it provides simplified access to EU countries in a number of categories for RA citizens, particularly members of the official delegation, scholars, students, journalists, artists and sports figures, people having relatives legally living in EU countries and others. It is also expected to reduce the price of Schengen visa to 35 Euros, as well as to make it free for a number of categories of citizens, including children and pensioners.
Recall that negotiations on entry visa facilitation agreements with the EU started on February 27-28, 2012 in Yerevan.
