The United Nations Human Settlements programme (UN-HABITAT) recently published a report entitled “State of the World Cities. 2012/13”, which synthesizes information and knowledge on the state of the world’s cities with a view to strengthening the ability of Governments, local authorities and key partners to gain access to and make use of information on urban conditions and trends and to formulate effective urban policies.
Yerevan is in the second category of the list of the cities with solid prosperity figures. Other cities in this category are; Amman, Bangkok, Hanoi, Yerevan, Beijing, Jakarta and Manila; four cities are from Africa: Cape Town, Johannesburg, Cairo, Casablanca and the only European city is Kiev.
The leading cities, which are in the first category, are Vienna, New York, Toronto and London.
Five aspects have been used in order to rate the cities and put them in 6 groups.
