Azerbaijani media reports that in January-June, 2012, 506 hotels with 14,780 rooms and 31,850 beds operated in Azerbaijan.
According to State Statistical Committee, 9,790 beds were in Baku-based hotels, 22,060 – in other regions’ hotels.
“Number of persons in the hotels rose 48.2% to 296,400 and 60.9% of them were foreigners. Number of foreigners using hotel services at the result of development of tourism infrastructure and holding of international events also increased. So, number of foreigner staying overnight rose 70.7% or 74,700 persons to 180,500. Azerbaijani citizens soared 23% to 115,900. Other 27,600 persons were tourists coming via tourism” was written in the statement of State Statistical Committee.
During the same period, the incomes of hotels surged 36.9% to AZN 68.8 mln. 75.2% of incomes came from room sale, 15.4% – from food products sale, including drinks. Average list number of employees increased by 697 persons to 6,013 persons. Average salary is AZN 317.
