On October 16, delegation led by Defense Minister of the Republic of Italy Jiampaolo Di Paola arrived in the Republic of Armenia by three-day official visit.
On October 17, after the welcoming ceremony in the administrative center of the RA Ministry of Defense took place the meeting of the Italian delegation led by the Minister of Defense with the Republic of Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian, with the leadership of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The parties stressed the importance of development of cooperation in the sphere of military education, military industry and extension of cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
Defense Ministers of the Republic Italy and the Republic of Armenia signed the agreement “In the area of defense cooperation between Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Italy”. It will serve as a legal basis for bilateral cooperation.
In the framework of the visit Italy’s defense minister paid a visit to the Military Institute named after V.Sargsyan, got acquainted with the Institute’s educational programs.
Italy’s defense minister also visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Genocide Museum.
