A working group of the National Assembly, created to promote the establishment of institute of protection of children’s rights, on October 16 had a meeting with the Portuguese Ministry of Inclusive Education Department and Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The reason for the request of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to the United Nations Children’s Fund was the research on availability of services for children with disabilities.
As said the head of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan, representing the work of research said “at least you should have a heart of stone not to think of helping children who need protection.”
Presenting details of the survey, representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund to the National Assembly, Deputy Christina Rochella stressed the cooperation with the NA, and the fact that the issue of inclusive education is the focus of the legislative body. According to her, in order to process a right strategy it is important to have a notion about the present situation, which does the research.
Their many years of experience and achievements in the field of inclusive education presented the head of the Ministry of Education of Portugal Maria Filomena Pereyra.
The participants got interested in Portuguese inclusive education experience, and other issues related to the field were also discussed.
