On October 15, in the NA Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee, was held a meeting with the OSCE delegation, which also included the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman on struggle against intolerance and discrimination of Muslims Senator Adil Akhmetov and personal representative of the OSCE Chairman on struggle against anti-Semitism Rabbi Andrew Baker.
Welcoming the guests, NA vice president Hermine Naghdalyan noted Armenian side appreciates the visit of the President’s personal representatives to the Parliament of Armenia. According to her, the minority communities in Armenia have a long history.
The President of the Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee Elina Vartanyan appreciated the opportunity to discuss issues of common interest and noticed that the OSCE’s role in the development of human rights and deepening democracy is huge. She added that the issues of national minorities are always in their agenda.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Rabbi Andrew Baker, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman on struggle against anti-Semitism, informed that their work is directly related to the issue of various discrimination. OSCE has done much work to combat these phenomena. He said that the delegation will have meetings with members of minority communities, and ask for their experience.
