Russian Regnum news agency conducted an interview with the president of the Iranian “New Perspectives” analytical center, Mir Ghasem Moumeni, who also talked about the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“Azerbaijani authorities don’t plan to start a new war in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone. Azerbaijan is not ready for a new war either politically or economically. There are several reasons which prove that Azerbaijan is not going to start a new war now. There is another problem here. Azerbaijani opposition is looking for ways to achieve its goals and the official Baku is realizing war rhetoric in order to fight against the opposition. And, in addition to that, even if Azerbaijan is stronger politically or economically but it will have to go to war on an “empty stomach”.”
As for Iran’s view on the new war, the expert said that Iran doesn’t want a new war in the region. “It would be ideal for Tehran if Yerevan and Baku could cooperate”.
